Why Hard Work for Others Doesn't Pay: A Short Story of Self-Empowerment

From Living A Limited Lifestyle, To Freedom
I quit my job in 2019 after realizing:
Hard work doesn't build wealth
A tough lesson that took me 20 years to realize
Why did I work so hard for other companies?
Secretly.. I did it because I thought that if I worked hard, my boss would throw me a bone and help me rise to the top
If I made these companies richer, why wouldn't they reward me?
The system doesn't work that way...
I've had over 25 different jobs in my lifetime
Not one of them let me climb the ladder
What's the deal?
Your boss wants to stay in power; They're using you to make themselves rich. If you threaten that power, you're gone.
It's their goal to keep you in your place and pay you as little as possible to do it.
Even when I offered outstanding value to companies, I was still denied the promotions that I deserved
I became a property manager for this company in Beverly Hills and doubled as a handyman to fix most things myself saving them even more money.
I went on to offer to upgrade their entire building to energy efficient electricity, water saver toilets / sinks / showers.
They denied my request, stole my idea, and kept me away from it as they remodeled the units themselves.
Why is that?
I was offering too much value. It threatened their positions and they were afraid I was going to ask for even more money.
I finally gave them an offer they couldn't refuse:
In 2019, I offered to run their entire business in Beverly hills (managing 5 apartment buildings) for only 30k / YEAR.
Guess what?
They denied me.
This was a company raking in over 400k / MONTH. And they wouldn't give me 30 to improve their business
It's all about power
So I left, started my own company, and grew it to 7 figures within 2 years.
If you're like me, a hard worker, lots of ideas, a go-getter.
Trust yourself, get out of your 9-5 and start a company
Work for yourself, you'll be glad you did.
That came at a good time.
I’ve been working for 2 and a half years, had 3 jobs in this time. I am in the process of deciding if I should stick with it or just go alone.
Difference is I have 2 years of experience, you have 20…
I know I’ll hold myself accountable, just not sure if I have the skillset yet. Although quickest way to learn is to just do it…
Way to go, Nick! 🌻Awww, and thank you for the shout-out! 🌻
